Physical Properties*:
Always an intriguing one… much anecdotal evidence has accumulated over the years of it being an aphrodisiac, or sexual tonic, and indeed I have felt it to be so at times. In TCM it has been used to cure erectile dysfunction, and it has been found to have testostermomimetic effects thereby increases testosterone. It is antiseptic, antipruritic (relieves itching), anti-rheumatic (reduces arthritis), anti-inflammatory and a digestive tonic – having the ability to strengthen a weakened digestive system where bloating, rumbling and gaseousness occour. It helps purify the liver and this is reflected externally in its ability to purify the skin, clearing acne and reducing psoriasis and eczema. Sarsaparilla is an alterative which means it slowly adjusts the system to be more optimal, it helps with food assimilation and carries this through to optimizing muscle gain and mass along with its testosterone anabolic effect. It has also been found to decrease the growth, invasion and migration of cancer cells.

Cautions/Contraindications:
-Proceed with caution if you have kidney diseases.
- Digoxin (Lanoxin). Sarsaparilla can increase the amount of Digoxin that one’s bodies absorbs, thus increase the effects and side effects of the drug – including making the heart beat faster.
-Lithium. Sarsaparilla can increase the amount of Lithium your body retains, thus if you are taking Lithium pills, proceed with caution.
