Red Grape Leaf
Vitus viniferae
1:1 Ethanol/Distilled H2O Spagryic Tincture of fresh, organic Red Grape Leaf, with purified salt principle added.
Planetary Ruler: Venus
Physical Properties*:
The leaves contain flavonoids (4-5%) (rutin, quercitrin, isoquercitroside, kenferol, luteolol). They also contain the polyphenols epicatechin and gallocatechin which offer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer, cardioprotective and antiaging properties. These polyphenols also chelate metals like copper and iron, which prevents oxidations caused by highly reactive hydroxyl radicals. The antioxidant properties of vine leaves have a protective and cleansing effect in the liver, particularly useful in liver diseases caused by toxification by things such as alcohol, smoking, environmental pollutants, radiation, and drug use (illicit and medically condoned). The leaves can reduce the occurrence of liver fibrosis and protect the liver from effects caused by diabetes complications. The flavonoids in them may reduce inflammation in the digestive tract, thus potentially decreasing the severity of peptic ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, and gastritis. Vine leaves have also been found to improve cardiovascular health by decreasing lipid and protein damage, as well increasing superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) in heart homogenates, Beside antioxidant activities, polyphenols inhibit pro‐oxidant enzymes (e.g., xanthine oxidase, NADPH oxidase, lipoxygenases), chelate transient metals, reduce platelet aggregation and leukocyte adhesion, and promote vasodilatation, decreasing the resistance to blood flow (lowering blood pressure). Anthocyanins promote vasorelaxation by increasing nitric oxide levels and by inhibiting the action of phosphodiesterase‐5 enzyme, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Basically, they’re bloody good for the blood. Vine leaves also improve kidney function, and increase oxygenation of the brain whilst enabling a neuroprotective effect.

Emotional/Spiritual Properties:
We walk across the face of the Earth all the time… but have you ever felt the Earth straddle you…?
Red Grape Leaf helps us to acknowledge the bounty of life’s beauty that surrounds us at all times. Journeying with this plant helps one’s eyes to widen in appreciation and true sensing of all the goodness that life has to offer.. for those prone to scarcity mindsets or modes of being that are harsh and close down the senses, Vitus viniferae will allow these people to pause and recline, bringing the smile across their face as they realise that ‘abundance’ is the universe’s baseline mode of being. For those prone to overindulgence in the pleasures of life, the grape vine can ‘astringe’ this excessiveness, not necessarily by imparting stinginess, or ascetism, but rather by enabling one to appreciate simpler, more natural beauties, and their beauty within (an underappreciation of which, often causes people to fervently seek needless levels external enhancement and pampering). In short Red Grape teaches discrimination and discernment when it comes to the use of time, money and other resources with which one interacts with the world – bringing us out of short-term gratification and in to a deeper long term cycle of offering and soul-level-satiation. Red Grape can help us transition from being overly consumptive, to engaging more thoroughly in meaningfully productive activities, encouraging passions, hobbies, arts, crafts and or the appreciation the canvas of nature herself. The grape vine is also beneficial for people prone to jealousy and envy (hard to admit to, I know), for all the aforementioned emotional and spiritual effects… when one walks in deep appreciation and gratitude for all that is around them, they worry not about what the other has…. Furthermore we can even see that the concept of ownership is at its core an untruth…
