Physical Properties*:
Olive leaf extract (OLE) is a popular, well researched and time-tested remedy for inflammation, bacterial infection, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders. Oleuropein aglycone, Oleacein and hyrdoxytyrosol can all be found in olive oil, however these compounds are hydrolysed (and lost) during production, so Olive leaf extract often contains these compounds in much greater concentration than olive oil. These compounds have been shown to decrease a handful of inflammatory markers and cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β IL-8 cytokines and VCAM and ICAM-1). OLE mitigates the aging process through the restoration of RS-HUVECs’ antioxidant activity, by upregulating SOD2 mRNA expression. The leaves are antiseptic, astringent (tonifying to loose skin, tissue, sphincters etc), febrifuge (fever regulating) and sedative. They have a relaxing and tranquilising effect on the nervous system, easing nervous tension and hypertension. Leaves have been shown to reduce blood sugar levels by 17-23%. Olive leaf has been shown to have incredibly high amounts of antioxidants, the body produces antioxidants to help detoxify and clear pathogens (bacteria, colds etc), so adding the antioxidants of OLE in to the mix greatly increases the amount of antioxidants available for the body to use in detoxifying and clearing pathogens.

Emotional/Spiritual Properties*:
There is a certain noble sincerity held by olive trees, who’s presence can transcend centuries, indeed there are some olive trees that are estimated to be 2000-4000 years old. An herb that is used to treat those with a feeling of ‘complete exhaustion’ and ‘mental fatigue’, it does so by encouraging us to look into parts of our lives that are not fit to stand the test of time. If we are going to do this for the long haul, like the olive trees who bear fruit for thousands of years, then there are times where we need to filter through all the elements of our life and determine which need to be changed, let go of, upgraded, evolved etc, in order to be able to bear fruit far into the future. Often times we live an unsustainable life because we let our lives become too governed and distorted by ‘truths’ or ideas that are not actually applicable to our lives, and our essence… olive helps us to eject these fallacies, putting them outside of ourselves again, and then aiding us to search out and uphold the version of reality, the mind-state that will stand the test of time and increase our fruitfulness throughout the years. 

Contraindications:
-Blood thinners and surgery: Olive leaf is likely to thin the blood, which may make it excessively thin with blood thinners, or dangerous for surgery.
-Diabetes medication: Will lower blood sugar, may cause excessive lowering if taken alongside diabetes medication.
