Clematis
Clematis pubescens
1:1.3 Ethanol/Distilled H2O spagyric tincture of the fresh aerial parts of wild-harvested native clematis (flower, leaf and stem), with purified salt principle added.
Planetary Ruler: Mercury.

Physical properties*:
Clematis species occour worldwide and the aerial parts have a similar thread of effects, including: Odontalgic (easing toothache), analgesic (easing pain all over the body), expectorant (shifts mucous from the respiratory system), tonic (for low energy, or colds), rubefacient (dilate capillaries and increases circulation to the skin), diuretic (increases detoxification via urine), diaphoretic (raises heat from the digestive area upwards to the lung, and out to the peripheries). The herb can be used to clear headaches and sinusitis, as its leaves have a pungent, spicy tone that invigorates the mind and expands the lungs. Clematis is also quite effective in relaxing central nerves along the central vertical axis of the body – the vagus nerve and those close to the spine, in this way it can help us switch from sympathetic to the parasympathetic nervous system (come out of fight and flight and in to rest and digest).

Emotional/Spiritual Properties*:
Feel the tendrils of this gregarious creeper weave quickly around your spine, to enthral you mind with sensations of giddy ecstasy! No… not the physical ecstasy born of some physiochemical reaction but rather, the kind that arises when the situation before you begins to tickle your fancy. When then the flowers of this plant mature into the seed releasing stage, the petals go from flat and smooth, to stringy and fluffy, appearing close up like arms of a wildly-waving airborne octopus, this imbibes a necessary abandonment of the feelings that pull us down, a quick shifting of focus to seize the thoughts that are elevational, so we climb the proverbial bean stalk to the higher plane of awareness wherefrom we can take all of life’s situations and touch them with a cheery, optimistic magic! In some countries this plant is known as ‘old man’s beard’, and it definitely imparts the essence of a cheeky old wizard whom chuckles to himself as he sees and understands the plight of those who come to him, knowing that they have all the keys they need to transcend their struggles, but he is nonetheless quite willing to show those keys to you.
Clematis is an excellent aid for those who tend to feel withdrawn in social settings, it imbues one with a sense of playfulness, with which you can begin to weave playfully amidst friends and strangers alike! For those of us who tend to isolate themselves through business in daily life, it can spark the inspirations to reach out, helping us to see and seize the moment to extend words and gestures of connection. The plant also helps us move more dynamically between serious application of effort and focus, to the ease of relaxation and playful activities that require more spontaneity and openness.

Cautions/Contraindications:
-Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
-No other drug interactions recorded for Clematis species.
