Physical Properties*:
This potent plant contains three potent bioflavonoid-like compounds that, along with its other components have been proven to increase glutathione production, which has 10 times more antioxidant power than vitamin E. These three bioflavonoids (Silybum, Silycristin, and Silymarin) have a strong liver cleansing effect, being able to purge drugs and environmental toxins. The liver is also aided in bile production, alcoholic cirrhosis is countered, hepatitis is countered, cholesterol is reduced through increased bile production, the likelihood of gallstones is reduced and liver cells are aided in their regeneration. Another compound Silybine lowers blood pressure and inhibits the oxidation of red blood cells under stress. Milk Thistle will also stabilise mast cells and reduce histamine release, thus reducing overall allergic response. It is a cooling cleansing herb with a strong downward action on the vital force. It can be particularly useful for those engaging with chemotherapy because of the burden this kind of treatment places on the liver. Milk thistle is also a time tried remedy for increasing milk production, it is likely that it also purifies the milk of the mother, preventing any toxins she is carrying from reaching the child.
