Feverfew
Tanacetum parthenium
1:1 Spagyric Tincture of fresh organic Feverfew -arial parts, with plant’s salt principle added.
Planetary Rulers: Mercury and Moon

Physical Properties:
This herb is one of the ‘go to’ remedies for headaches and migraines, also being a pacifier of many kinds of other aches as well, including but not limited to stomach aches, rheumatism and kidney pain. It reduces pain by targeting histamine, serotonin, and pro-inflammatory cytokine pathways. Feverfew also contains anti-nociceptive compounds that will prevent the neurons from feeling/receiving painful stimuli. At the same time this herb also has bitter, cooling and anti-inflammatory properties that will reduce swelling, heat and inflammation that can all increase the intensity of pain feelings, or be part of their source. It has an affinity for the head in general, helping with toothache, earache, vertigo, nausea and fever. Other uses included: Soothing digestive spasm, menstrual regulation, asthma, dermatitis and morning sickness.

Emotional/Spiritual Properties:
There are rumours that the physicians of old would at times make a small hole in peoples skulls and place gold therein if someone suffered frequently from migraines… feverfew feels like it has a similar effect, letting off the pressure valve from the top of the head. It’s a very relieving feeling...giving one the sense that they can once again just breath and be calm inside of their own mind. Clarification is another descriptive that may come to mind upon consuming Feverfew, as the thoughts that were swirling around with no end in sight, nor their roots, begin to settle, for us to be able to inspect them with greater calm and clarity. Often times migraines can be a bit of a ‘reset’, forcing people to slow down and just clarify, feverfew and its cooling, draining properties will enable that reset to be more effective…even if it is just by deepening the rest that can be undertaken during these times. Even if one doesn’t struggle with migraines, or even headaches, this herb can help us to embrace dropping down a gear and taking a more measured approach for a time… better to lay some steady foundations born of clarity than continue in a whirlwind of subconscious overwhelm. Fever-few, it releases us from needlessly feverish doing.

Contraindications:
-Medications that are broken down by the P450 pathway may be metabolised quicker when also taking feverfew, meaning doses may be stronger, but act for less time.

-Anticoagulants/Blood thinners: When combined with these kind of medications the blood may become excessively thin.
