Baical Scullcap
Scutellaria baicalensis
1:4 Ethanol/Distilled H2O Spagryic Tincture of dried organic Baical Scullcap root, with purified salt principle added.
Planetary Ruler: Mercury.
Physical Properties:
Baical is a ventilating herb that clears heat and dries dampness in TCM. It is an excellent herb to use when one has hot respiratory conditions, fevers or severe infections – particularly in the lungs. Baicalin, baicalein, wogonoside and their aglycones are the major bioactive compounds extracted from Baical skullcap which are potently antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, anti-convulsant and neuroprotective. These properties make it one of the premium herbs for treating Lyme disease (Borrelia), Chlamydia Mycoplasma and Ehrlichia (bacteria that cause Rickets disease). There have been links made between Borrelia bacteria and Alzheimer’s, and thus Baical is an applicable herb for reducing or potentially preventing Alzheimer’s symptoms – especially considering its ability to regulate inflammatory response in the body. It can also treat hepatitis, diarrhea, hypertension, hemorrhaging and insomnia. In considering it’s ability to treat infections, particularly respiratory infections it may appear relevant for treating Covid-19 and other flus, note however that it is not for use when there the lung infection prefers cold temperatures as the covid bacteria does. If considering for use with cold and damp lung infections then one needs to combine with warming diaphoretics and expectorants such as: cloves, cardamom, Angelica (Archangelica), rosemary and ginger. In order to more effectively treat bacterial infections elsewhere in the body combine with Cat’s claw, Salvia miltiorrhiza (Red Sage), Cryptolepis sanguinolenta, Wormwood, and Polygonum cuspidatum (Japanese knotweed). Baical skullcap is an applicable herb for those wishing to aid lung health if they have or still are smoking. The herb has also been used successfully in combination with chemotherapy, improving outcomes on non-small cell lung cancer.
Emotional/Spiritual Properties:
A sigh of relief flows throughout the body… whilst this plant is a realist disallowing any kind of escapism, it does however elevate or allow one to step back into the observer’s point of view. Baical grants enhanced discernment and the rationality necessary to guide ones energy and resources forward so as to be perpetually conducting the pragmatic preparation of life’s soil which then enables the fruitful moments to occour with all the more light-heartedness in knowing the finer details were thoroughly taken care of. When one is suffering from anxiety and/or a restless kind of depression brought about by an over-consideration of the worlds problems, Baical helps one settle in to their most optimum solution, their unique path, with enhanced cheer, self-loving determination and clarity. Baical is quite an emotionally adaptogenic herb, if one needs to clear out stuck emotions and thought forms it helps one do so with efficiency, then if one needs to soften out of those purifying, pragmatic, sorting fires it helps one ease back into observant peace.
